Starting this week, Saturday, May 4, residents can bring their yard and garden waste to one of three Community Compost Depots; the depots are open every Saturday, 9-3, until October 12, 2024.
The depots are located at:
- Woodlawn School (411 Henry St.),
- Stonybrook Middle School (77 Lumber Ave.)
- Smith Neufeld Jodoin Law Office Lot (85 Provincial Trunk Hwy 12)
What to compost:
- Vegetables & fruit (fresh, cooked, canned)
- Coffee grounds / Filters
- Tea leaves / bags
- Egg shells
- Bread
- Plain rice / Plain pasta
- Garden waste
- Weeds without seeds
- Grass clippings
- Leaves
Do not compost:
- Meat / Fish / Bones
- Eggs / Dairy Products
- Oily foods / Sauces
- Pet waste
- Diseased plants
- Metals
- Synthetic materials
- Plastic / Petroleum products
Please note that compost is also accepted year-round at the Steinbach Landfill.
