UPDATE - 

Starting on the morning of Wednesday, August 16, Barkman Avenue will be temporarily closed to all traffic from Henry Street to Beaver Crescent.

The City of Steinbach thanks motorists in advance for following signage, reducing speed, and using caution in these areas.

July 31, 2023

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, August 1st, Barkman Avenue will be a one-way from Penner Street to Beaver Crescent with traffic travelling eastbound (see map below).

Residents will be able to access their houses as the contractor starts reconstructing the south side of the street.

Barkman Avenue from Henry Street to Penner Street will remain local access only.

June 30, 2023

During the week of July 4-7, 2023, please note the upcoming road closures due to milling and paving work being done in the following areas:

  • Reimer Ave is scheduled to be closed from Brandt St to Giesbrecht St on July 4-6 with limited or no access for the marked properties.
  • Giesbrecht St is scheduled to be closed from Woodhaven Ave to Grandview Dr from July 5-7 with limited or no access for the marked properties.
  • The southbound curb lane and the northbound left-turn lane of Brandt St at Reimer Ave will also be closed while work is done near the intersection.
  • Businesses on the corner of Brandt St and Reimer Ave can be accessed via Brandt St.

June 9, 2023

Beginning Monday, June 12, the intersection at Giesbrecht St and Harvest Dr will be closed due to work being done in the area.

Motorists can:

  • Access Harvest Dr from Reimer Ave W
  • Access Giesbrecht St, North of Harvest Dr, from Woodhaven Ave
  • Access Giesbrecht St, South of Harvest Dr, from Reimer Ave W

May 19, 2023

Beginning May 23rd, temporary road closures and construction may impact travel in the following areas.

Barkman Ave – from Henry St to Beaver Cres
Construction will take place on Barkman Avenue from Henry Street to the west leg of Beaver Crescent. Due to work being done in the area, there will be local access, while pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to Reimer Ave/Penner St, and bus traffic will be rerouted to Henry St/Evergreen Ave.

Giesbrecht St and Reimer Ave West
Construction will take place in stages to allow access to Cambridge Way, Harvest Drive, Tim Horton’s, and Co-op.
